Please remember that name badges are required for entry to all sessions, breaks, vendor area, and banquet. OEMS CE will only be awarded by scanning name badges.
Cancellation Policy:
Transfers/Refunds/Cancellations
If you cannot attend the Pre-Conference or Symposium, you may transfer your registration to another attendee, transfer to the next scheduled conference or request a refund based upon the following conditions.
Membership fees will not be refunded.
Transfers to the next scheduled conference: No Penalty Fee; only one Transfer permitted.
Transfers substituting another attendee must be made prior to conference; transfer on site will result in a 10% of registration cost penalty fee.
Requests to transfer payment to the next scheduled conference must be sent in writing via e-mail to the conference registrar (jbrines@ncaemsa.org) by the first day of the conference. Telephone requests will not be honored.
Refunds for cancellations received 30 days prior to the first day of a conference will receive a full refund.
Refunds for cancellations less than 30 days, but more than 10 days prior the conference will receive a 50% refund.
There will be no refunds for cancellations 10 days or less prior to a conference.
All transfers/refunds/cancellations must be done online by the dates specified.
NCAEMSA is not responsible for problems beyond our control such as weather conditions, prepaid parking, prepaid tours, etc. No refunds will be given in these situations.
The final decision on transfers/refunds/cancellations rests with the NCAEMSA Executive Board.

The position of Field Training Officer is often the first rung on the promotional ladder for an EMS paramedic. In many agencies, individuals are appointed FTOs without any preparation whatsoever, except for their prior EMS field experience. The Basic EMS Field Training Officer course will introduce to the prospective field training officer to the structure, tools, techniques and concepts of EMS-FTEP™, and will provide instruction in the principles of adult learning, coaching, evaluation, giving feedback, and documenting trainee performance using EMS-FTEP tools (Standardized Evaluation Guidelines, Recruit Training Manual, and Daily Observation Reports).

It is highly recommended for anyone overseeing aspects of an OEMS Education Institution. This workshop is set to be an annual requirement for OEMS Educational Institution Program Coordinators. Developed by former OEMS Institution Program Coordinators and current NCOEMS Staff, the Program Coordinators will discuss and review their roles/responsibilities, current issues or needs in EMS Education, information relevant to their position, realistic expectations of being an EMS Program Coordinator and understand challenges OEMS addresses daily regarding EMS education in North Carolina.

Course description: This 16-hour traditional classroom-based course builds on the fundamentals presented in EMS Officer I. Based on a North Carolina-specific model, this part of the series will prepare you to evaluate the overall safety facets of the EMS department. Through facilitated discussions, lectures, case studies, and exercises, you will be prepared to provide a safer working environment as an EMS officer. Topics will focus on creating and maintaining a successful EMS safety program and include performing a risk assessment, Safety Committee formulation and/or oversight, managing an OSHA inspection, resources, and standards that address driving, patient handling, scene safety, medical error, and exposures.
